Document Baselines

Document Baselines let you mark and label a specific Live Document save (revision) in a Document's history.

(Document Baselines are blue and Project Baselines are green.)

Tip:

Select Show only baselines to hide normal revisions and only show Document and Project baselines.

(This setting is remembered for the current user across all Documents.)

When you're looking at a Document Baseline, a large blue button appears at the top of the document.

(Hold the mouse over the button to view the Document Baseline's details.)

Click on the blue button to view and edit the baseline's details.

On the Document Baseline's detail screen you can:

  • Edit the Name.

    (The name that appears in the Document's history beside the revision number. You cannot leave this blank.)

  • Delete the Document Baseline.

    (The revision itself will remain.)

  • View the Base Revision number.

  • Click ,, the document name or Open Document to view the baseline in the Document Editor.

  • Edit or add a Description. (Only visible on this detail screen.)

  • Click to view a history of changes (and who made them) for the Name and Description fields.

Create a Document Baseline

Tip:

Administrators can configure Polarion so that a Document Baseline is automatically created by a Document worfklow transition.

  1. Open or create a Live Document in the Document Editor.

  2. Edit the Live Document.

  3. (Save) your changes.

  4. Click on the Document toolbar then Create Baseline.

    The Create Document Baseline dialog box appears.

  5. Enter a Name.

  6. (Optional) Enter a Description.

    Will appear in the Description field of the Document Baseline detail screen.

  7. Click Create.

    A confirmation dialog box appears.

  8. Click OK.

    Your new Document Baseline appears in the Document's history.

  9. (Optional) Click on the top right to view the Document's history and your new Document Baseline.

  10. (Optional) Click Show beside your Document Baseline to view it in the Document Editor.

Note:

You can query both Document and Project baselines.
