This is not supported for alternate position family of assemblies. To get the properties you should first call AssemblyFamilyMembers::AlternateAssemblyType to determine if the type is Family or AlternatePosition. If it is alternate position then use the document properties, if it is family then use AssemblyFamilyMember properties.
