Insert or Edit Widget

Insert a Widget

  1. Select your Report, click Expand Tools at the top and click Edit.

  2. Click on the top right and click Widgets. The Widget sidebar appears.

  3. Place the insertion cursor inside a region at the point where you want to insert the Widget.

  4. In the sidebar, click on the Widget you want placed in the Page. The Widget is rendered visually in the Page and selected for editing. The Parameters sidebar opens, replacing the Widgets sidebar and displaying the parameters of the Widget you just added.

  5. After placing a Widget into a Page, you can do one of the following:

    • Configure its parameters.

    • Place other Widgets to complete the layout of your report, and then configure Widget parameters later.

    • Add Page Parameters that can help make some widgets more interactive.

You can insert Widgets in any region of a Page. When developing a new report, it is usually best practice to construct the Page layout first (see Modify Page Layout).

If you decide to complete the layout first, close the Parameters sidebar. Then reopen the Widgets sidebar from the Show Sidebar button on the Page toolbar.

Edit a Widget

You can edit Widget parameters after completing the report layout, or you may find at some point that you need to modify the parameters of an existing Widget.

  1. Select your Report, click Expand Tools at the top and click Edit.

  2. In the Page Designer, click the Widget's blue header. The Parameters sidebar appears with the parameters for the selected Widget and the Widget's header turns yellow.

  3. Edit the parameters and click Apply.

Widget layout and sizing

You can explicitly set the height and width of chart Widgets to achieve a desired page layout. The Advanced section of the Widget parameters contains Height and Width fields, which you can set to achieve the desired layout of a chart on a Page. Chart Widgets are block type Widgets (as opposed to in-line type), and the chart rendered inside them is always centered within the block.

  • Height must be specified only in pixels.

  • Width can be specified in pixels or as a percentage, for example, 350 or 75%.

  • For the Plan Progress Widget, you can specify only the Width parameter.

Note:

These parameters are also accessible to developers via the Polarion API.
