Oracle EBS Connection Verification

Once you have finished the configuration steps of the previous chapters, T4O will be able to establish a connection to any configured Oracle EBS system.

In order to verify if the configured Oracle EBS connections work as expected, choose one of the following options:

Verify the Oracle EBS connections via T4O test script

You can use test script EBS connection test in order to verify any configured connection. It needs the following login information:

For a successful Oracle EBS connection, it should return something like the following (example for JDBC):

If the connection is not OK, check if the Oracle EBS system services are running and if the configuration is correct; then execute this script again.

Verify the Oracle EBS connections in Teamcenter Portal

For a connection verification, please login to the Teamcenter Portal and choose EBS Connections… from the T4O Gateway menu (if this is activated, see the T4O_Gateway_* preferences). This will initiate an interactive login to an EBS system using the EBS Connections… window:

This shows four Oracle EBS systems (i.e., four values in the preference T4O_EBSLogonSystemList) with connection status and possible user action each.

The EBS Connections… window will only appear if more than one Oracle EBS system is configured in the Teamcenter preference T4O_EBSLogonSystemList. If only one system is configured, the EBS Login… dialog will be shown directly.

If the EBS Login… window is not visible (only one Oracle EBS system is configured in the Teamcenter preference key T4O_EBSLogonSystemList), it can be shown after a successful login by choosing EBS Connections… from the T4O Gateway menu.

In this dialog, please click on the connect button for the desired Oracle EBS system. This will bring up the EBS Login… dialog:

After entering username, password and responsibility, the EBS Login… dialog may be busy for a few seconds in order to query the responsibility list for the given user from the Oracle EBS system.

T4O will automatically display the EBS Login… dialog during a transaction if it needs a connection that is not established yet.

Since V10.1.3, T4O is shipped with new OOTB responsibilities for JDBC. If upgrading from an older version, please be sure to use the new responsibilities Teamcenter Gateway Read-Only User and Teamcenter Gateway User instead of the old ones Tesis Inventory User and Tesis Inventory Super User in the T4O login dialog.

Caution:

Only important for Solaris: After entering the password, please change to the responsibility field by using the tab-key. Getting the responsibilities by clicking on the drop down list doesn’t work on Solaris platforms.

After entering all necessary data and pressing OK, a successful connect should be shown in the EBS Login… dialog:

Explanation of the Status symbols:

  • Currently, there is no connection to this Oracle EBS system. Whenever T4O tries to do anything with this Oracle EBS system, it will ask you for the Oracle EBS login data

  • T4O is partially connected to this Oracle EBS system. There are some transactions where T4O will ask you for your Oracle EBS login data, some will not but use a predefined one

  • T4O is completely connected to this Oracle EBS system, so it will not ask you for the Oracle EBS login in any transaction

Caution:

For an Oracle EBS auto login a "green" status only means that the configured connection is syntactically correct, but not that a real connection is established.

A partial Oracle EBS connection (i.e. some transactions will ask for the Oracle EBS connection and some will not; Status displayed in orange) can be established with an Oracle EBS auto login only (see chapter Provide Oracle EBS Account Information in the Teamcenter Gateway for Oracle EBS - Configuration Guide for details). When establishing the Oracle EBS connection manually (i.e., typing the login information from within T4O), it is used for any transaction and the Status is shown in green.

In the screen shot, the Preferred Oracle EBS connection is the Oracle EBS system EBS4, i.e. this connection will be used as long as no other connection is specified by

  • clicking another one here

  • clicking another one in the T4O transfer window

  • or using the corresponding workflow handler arguments.

The meaning of the Action icon is as follows:

  • Green : you may completely connect to this Oracle EBS system by clicking on the icon and typing your Oracle EBS user name and password; then the Status will be shown in green and the Action in red

  • Red : you may disconnect from this Oracle EBS system by clicking on the icon; then the Status will be shown in orange or red and the Action in green. You may not close the auto login, so maybe the status icon will get orange showing a partial connection

If you try to connect to an Oracle EBS system that is not specified in t4o_mapping_config.sd, T4O will provide an error message like:

No valid connector type could be found for the given system: EBS2.

If the Oracle EBS system does not answer (e.g. because a Firewall prevents the contact, Oracle EBS server is down…), you will get something like the following:

org.apache.axis2.AxisFault:\ Connection\ refused:\ connect

If the error message is something like PASSWORD_INVALID or Your account does not exist or has expired. Please contact the Web Master or System Administrator., the connection works, but you provided invalid login data.

If the T4O license is not valid (or you do not receive the BGS answer on the given port), the user will get a popup window with the following error message. So the Admin UI is not really needed to check if the license is available:
