NX and Teamcenter prerequisite tasks

  • Product designer

Complete these steps in NX and Teamcenter:

    1. The product designer must store product data in a Teamcenter database in a 4th generation collaborative design.

    2. The product designer stores all of their work on this unit (for example, vessel) in the collaborative design container.

    3. The product designer must create at least one product subset.

      Note:

This subset is used by the process planner to view and assign design components.

    4. The product designer should create design views.

      Note:

Design views are used by the process planner to create manufacturing views of the design components.

  • Administrator

    Complete these steps in Teamcenter:

    1. An administrator must install and configure Next Generation Planning as described in the Next Generation Planning Deployment documentation.

    2. Access to data is controlled by a user ID assigned to each user by the administrator. The user ID grants access to portions of the Teamcenter database based on the user’s assigned groups and roles. An administrator must set up the user ID prior to using Next Generation Planning.

    3. The administrator creates a manufacturing model containing a build plan (build element root) associated to a collaborative design. A manufacturing model can be created for each unit (for example, vessel) of a collaborative design, if desired.

  • Planner

Complete this step in Next Generation Planning:

    • The process planner working in Next Generation Planning locates a build plan (build element root) and performs all of their work on this unit (for example, vessel) in this container.
