High-level Next Generation Planning process
Planners use Next Generation Planning to plan the manufacturing assembly of a product designed using 4th Generation Design. Before work can begin, an administrator performs data setup in Teamcenter.
The manufacturing assembly planning process is divided into high-level tasks:
Administrator
Create the manufacturing model — Tasks include creating the build element root, high-level build elements, defining the effectivity, and associating a collaborative design to the structure. See the Next Generation Planning Deployment documentation for details on data setup.
Senior Planner
Create the build plan — Tasks include creating a build plan using build elements and activities. In the ship building industry, the build plan is known as the ship breakdown structure.
Planner
Initial planning — Tasks include scoping and defining the product content, and distributing welds.
Detailed planning — Tasks include loading the scoped data, adding operations, defining operation content, and creating electronic drawings.
