Clone process elements with manufacturing elements

Often, certain parts of a ship are the same or similar. When you clone a process element, you must also select any predecessor process elements, in order to also capture the manufacturing elements in the predecessor process element. Effectivity rules control which parts and features are included in the cloned element.

Note:

An MCN is required to take the action outlined in this topic. Please see Disciplined authoring using MCN.

Example:

Process element PEcc001 is a predecessor to PEcc002.

Process element PEcc002 includes the operation OPcc1001.

Manufacturing element MEcc001 is assigned to OPcc1001.

In this example, you must also select the predecessor process element (PEcc001) so that the manufacturing element (MEcc001) is also cloned. If you do not select the predecessor for cloning, you see this message:

  1. On the Work Unit tab of the activities page, select the process element containing the operation you would like to clone, which in this example is PEcc002. Press the Ctrl key and select the predecessor process element as well, PEcc001.

  2. Click Process Cloning and select Copy.

  3. Navigate to the activity into which you want to add the cloned process element and click Process Cloning , then select Paste Clones or Paste Clones with Traceability.

New process elements with the same names, but different IDs, are shown selected in the Process Elements area. A relationship is created between the original object and the cloned object if Paste Clones with Traceability is used.

    Note:

For more information regarding the use of Paste Clones with Traceability, see Clone selected process elements.

Note:

The contents of the clipboard are available into other areas, such as a Manufacturing Change Notice.
