Manufacturing object attribute groups

An attribute group is like a form. It is used to associate specific attributes to an object. These attributes could be used in a report or for other purposes.

You can define attribute groups to record and request information on many objects. Alternately, an attribute group could represent a scope of work (WBS). Each attribute group type contains a predefined list of attributes.

You can define attribute groups for the following:

  • A build element on the main Information tab. For example, you may have 1 or 2 attribute groups on a build element.

  • An activity on the main Information tab. For example, you may have 5 to 10 attribute groups on an activity.

  • On the information tab when the manufacturing element is open. For example, you may have 5 to 10 attribute groups on a manufacturing element.

  • A process element on the Information tab on the Work Unit tab. For example, you may have 5 to 10 attribute groups on a process element.

  • One or more design components on the Work Unit tab. For example, you may have assigned design components that require the same attribute group.

  • An operation on the Information tab on the Operations tab, or when you click an operation's name in the Operations panel.

Note:

You can also add in-context attribute groups to design components and features.

You can also define attribute groups when you click Open on product elements on the Build Strategy tab, and when you open parts on the Work Unit tab and click the part's attribute groups tab.

There are several ways to manage attribute groups of manufacturing objects in Next Generation Planning.
