Using model class library to store best in class

A class library manages best in class activities and process elements. Cloning build elements, activities, processes, operations, and assignments is an efficient way to leverage common areas of a ship. When it is determined that an activity representing a common section of a ship qualifies as best in class, the activity is cloned to a class library and then used in different hulls in the same collaborative design.

Note:

You create a class library by executing the mpr_create_manufacturing_model command with the proper syntax. Executing this command creates the initial root build element. Please see Create manufacturing model utility syntax and arguments in the Next Generation Planning Deployment guide.

Once the class library is set up, you create build elements in the class library directly. When you view a build element that is in the class library, the Build Strategy tab is replaced with the Content Tab. All items within the class library display the information about the class library itself next to the name, for example, Virginia.

The Details section displays information about attachments and attributes for the item you select in the Reusable Manufacturing Items section.

To populate the class library, you clone activities that the planner considers best in class into any of the build elements in the library. The process elements and operations in the cloned activity are included in the class library.
